Abstract
1347690 Door opening devices BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 5 Oct 1971 [10 Oct 1970] 48262/70 Heading E2M A door such as an aircraft fuselage door which is pivotally connected to a frame at 16 is formed from two parts 15a, 15b pivotally connected at 24, and is locked in the closed position, Fig. 3, by the engagement of hooks 28 with abutments 29; a hydraulic operator 26 can pivot the door parts about 24 to increase the distance from pivot 16 to the hooks 28, Fig. 4, thereby releasing the hooks and allowing the door to be swung open by a hydraulic operator 19. When the door is closed from the open position (Figs. 1, 2 not shown) a mechanism delays the actuation of operator 26 until the position shown in Fig. 4 is reached, the door parts are then pivoted by an operator 26 to the less extended configuration, Fig. 3, and the hooks re-engage. The operator 26 can lock the door parts in their door closed or door-open positions and further locking means can be provided, to hold the door closed, in the form of rods extending through the sides of the door into apertures in the frame. Inflatable sealing means 33 and sealing strip 34 provide an air-tight fit.
