Abstract
1347654 Quenching coke SIMON-CARVES Ltd 6 July 1972 [22 July 1971] 31716/72 Heading F4B Hot coke is quenched in a bath of water by being fed from a bunker 22 on to the surface of the water 12, and is moved along the surface of the water by plates 26 attached to endless conveyer belt 24 driven by rolls 25. The coke absorbs water and sinks on to endless conveyers 27 mounted above the base 18 and transverse to the longitudinal axis of the bath. These conveyers remove the coke from the bath and discharge the coke on to conveyers 29 on which evaporation of adhering water takes place. A s smaller lumps of coke absorb water quickly and sink before the larger lumps, a partial grading of the coke takes place during the quenching process.
