Abstract

1347227 Dental pins B WEISSMAN 9 June 1972 26983/72 Heading A5R A dental anchor comprises a pin 36 having a self-tapping threaded portion 38 and an enlarged head 50, a portion 42 which can be engaged by a tool 60, and weakened portion 39 of reduced thickness between the portion 49 and the head 50. The anchor is inserted into a preformed channel (28) in a tooth stump, Fig 2 (not shown), and when it reaches the bottom of the channel further rotation of the anchor causes it to fracture at the weakened portion 39 leaving only the pin 36 in the stump. The anchor is made from stainless steel. The portion 42 includes a frusto-conical guide portion 49 and two flat faces 46 which co-operate with the tool 60. The tool 60 includes a pair of prongs 68 which co-operate with the faces 46.
