Abstract

1341310 Artificial teeth PLESSEY CO Ltd 26 Sept 1972 [30 Sept 1971] 45468/71 Heading A5R An artificial tooth comprises a crown section 26 resiliently secured to a root section 21 formed of a microcrystalline carbon material impermeable to liquids and having at least one substantially cone-shaped projection. The crown section 26 is resiliently secured to the root section 21 by means of a stub extension 24 which is integral with or connected to the root section 21 and received in a cavity in the crown section 26 with an elastomeric material 28 such as silicone rubber interposed between the two. The elastomeric material 28 is preformed or injected through a lateral passage 29 in the crown into the space between the crown section 26 and the stub extension 24 of the root section 21 so that it is in a state of compression when cured. At least two lateral passages (14) (Fig. 2, not shown) in the crown section 26 may be used for the passage of levers to press the crown section 26 on to the root section 21.
