Abstract

1346917 Electrographic fixing processes FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 30 Sept 1971 [1 Oct 1970] 45662/71 Heading G2H A toner image 9 is fixed to a sheet 8 by applying solvent using an earthed roller 1 and simultaneously charging the rear of the sheet with a polarity opposite to that of the toner. It is stated that the charging improves the contact between the roller 1 and the toner. Charging is effected by a corona discharge device 11 or by a roller held at a suitable potential. Trichloroethane and trichloroethylene are preferred solvents. As shown, solvent is transferred to roller 1 from a reservoir 3 by rollers 4, 5 co-operating with a doctor blade 6. A cleaner 7 removes toner from roller 1. In Fig. 2 (not shown) solvent is transferred to roller 1 by a wick 12.
