Abstract
1,056,569. Printing processes. A. B. DICK CO. April 3, 1964 [April 25, 1963], No. 13859/64. Heading B6C. [Also in Division G2] An image transfer process comprises the steps of uniformly charging an electrophotographic sheet having a dielectric coating medium on a conductive backing plate, exposing the imaged medium to infra-red radiation whereby the resulting heat generated in the image areas renders the dielectric conducting so that the charge on the image areas runs to earth through the grounded conductive backing plate, applying a developer material to the medium and transferring the developed image by a potential applied across a p air of pressure rollers 32, 34, Fig. 5 (not shown), to an impressed copy sheet on which it is fixed. The developer, which may be powder or liquid, has charged toner particles which are repelled from the charged non-image areas. Heat fixing may be used. The toner charge is selected to give positive or reversed prints.
