Abstract

1346274 Two part couplings SODECO-SOC DES COMPTEURS DE GENEVE SA 5 June 1972 [11 June 1971] 26045/72 Heading H2E A connector (shown schematically in Fig. 2) for a flat cable comprises two relatively movable body portions 6, 7 each with a complementary row of grooves 6a, 7a and ribs, each groove having a conductive tooth therein such that when the portions 6, 7 are moved each cable conductor 1 is displaced into a respective groove having its insulation 3 pierced by a tooth; the teeth 21 in the portion 7 are interconnected by a metal plate 20 and one conductor 5 is pierced by a tooth 22 in a rib of the portion 7 as well as by a tooth in a groove of portion 6, this latter tooth being connected to an earthed part 25, while all the teeth in the portion 6 are connected by a respective plate 24 to a respective contact 8. In Fig. 4 the portion 6 is formed with a part 10 and an end cover 11 having two different sized openings 12, 13 and receiving the contacts 8. The portion 7 is movably fixed to the portion 6 by a screw 9 to define a cable receiving channel 14 with the ribs and grooves 6a, 7a being disposed on the inner portion of the channel which is inclined to the general direction of the connector. The plate 20 extends transversely of the portion 7 and is integral with the teeth 21. The plates 24 are disposed in a shoulder 23, each with two teeth 26, 27 in a groove 6a and each connected to a contact 8 adapted for mating with pins 28 entering through the opening 12 as shown or 13 if the cover 11 is turned through 180 degrees to align the smaller openings with the contacts 8 for receiving smaller pins.
