Abstract

1345963 Door handles MICRO & PRECISION MOULDINGS (CHELTENHAM) Ltd 6 Jan 1972 [3 March 1971] 5879/71 Heading A4U [Also in Division E2] A door handle assembly comprises a knob which is rotatable in a bush 2 of a mounting plate 3, a shell 1 of the knob and the plate being moulded in a hard plastics material and held in assembled relation by a moulded plastics stud 6 snap fitted into the knob which stud 6 has an axial hole 11 of square cross-section operatively engaged with a latch-operating shaft 12, and a shoulder 14 which forms a bearing with the bush 2. The knob has a concave or convex, ornamental, metal cover 1a snap fitted in the shell 1 which has a recess 10, receiving an annular flange on the mounting plate, and a sleeve 7. The stud 6 is non-rotably secured to the shell 1 by being passed from below upwards through the sleeve so that projections 17 on the shoulder 14 key with slots 8 in the sleeve and a yielding, inwardly projecting lip 9 snap fits in a groove 16. The mounting plate is secured to the door by screws 4 the heads of which are hidden by a snap-fitted annulus as disclosed in Specification 1345962.
