Abstract

1446414 Applying chemicals to seeds IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 29 Oct 1973 [30 Oct 1972 12 Jan 1973] 49839/72 Heading A2Q [Also in Division B3] A rotor and stator assembly useful for applying chemicals to seeds, comprises a rotor 1 which is dished and has a face 5 at its edge in parallel alignment with a corresponding face provided by the stator 2 and separated therefrom by a diametral clearance within the range 0.0005 to 0.05 inches. The rotor is rotated about a vertical axis by a gear box and motor assembly 4 and its surface 5 is preferably 0.001 to 0.025 inches from the surface of the stator. A groove or grooves containing grease may be provided in the face 5 or in the stator. In an other embodiment, a triangular ridge 7, Fig. 3 is provided on the stator, one face of the ridge being in parallel alignment with the face of the rotor.
