Abstract

1,243,547. Washers; joint-making packing. NATIONAL PLANT HIRE (PTY) Ltd. 18 Dec., 1968, No. 60187/68. Headings F2B and F2H. A sealing washer assembly comprises a metal washer 1 to which a centrally perforated resilient liner 2 is attached by engagement of the liner with an edge of the metal washer. The washer 1 is preferably made of steel whilst the liner 2 is made of plastics material. As shown, the washer is snapped on to the waisted portion 10 of projection 9 of the liner but in a modification the outer edge of the washer is attached to an upwardly projecting rib or a series of lugs on the periphery of the liner. Alternatively the central bore of the washer may be gripped by a rib or a series of lugs on the projection 9. The liners may be moulded directly into strips of interconnected metal washers.
