1345224 Spinning yarns; false-twisters; slubcatchers; thread guides CELANESE CORP 1 June. 1971 [1 June 1970] 18260/71 Headings DID D1F D1J and D1W Apparatus for interlacing and compacting a running multifilament yarn comprises two spaced, successively and oppositely functioning pneumatic false-twisters having yarn passages of different cross-sectional area. As shown yarn 12 (freshly extruded or in course of twisting, plying, draw-winding, beaming, knitting and/or weaving) makes a 20‹ wrap around a pin 14, passes through the slot (slub-catcher) or over the edge of a clamping guide 16 which prevents the formation of loops in, and oscillation of the yarn, thence the balloon guide 24 and ring and traveller take-up for collecting the yarn as a bobbin 26 carried on spindle 28. The false-twisters share a common base 22 through passageway 44 in which air is supplied by passageway, as at 42 to be injected and create in passageway 40 vortical flows of oppositely rotating sense yarn is threaded-up by means of slots, as at 38. Different yarns e.g. of cellulose triacetate and nylon multifilaments or multifilament and staple fibre yarns, may be combined in the apparatus.
