Abstract
1426094 Knitting machines; yarn feed MEC-MOR SpA 22 Feb 1973 [28 Feb 1972] 8837/73 Heading D1C A pneumatic yarn feed device in a circular knitting machine comprises several passages in a common block with one yarn in each passage. Control means hold back all but one yarn and the selected yarn is blown so that its end protrudes and is taken by the needles as the device moves past them. In Fig. 5 air from a common header duct 11 blows the yarn through the passage 8, while the other yarns (Figure 6) are clamped by electromagnetic disc brakes 24, and partially withdrawn from their passages 8 by electromagnetically operated levers 17. In another embodiment (Figures 7, 8, not shown) a disc brake clamps the thread while a jet of air withdraws the free end of the yarn by diverting it up a side passage (26). In a further embodiment (Figures 9, 10, not shown) a pivoted lever (117) withdraws the yarn from its passage, two arms on the end of the lever forming two loops of yarn round a fixed stop (115). In each embodiment the yarn is changed at a gap in the needles (Fig. 11, not shown) and a knife cuts the yarn before it is withdrawn.
