Abstract

1345191 Loading pallets MORRIS BROS (TUNSTALL) Ltd 29 Feb 1972 [28 Sept 1971] 45014/71 Addition to 1337743 Heading B8C The apparatus of the parent specification is modified in that the conveyer carries a support rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the conveyer and indexing means is provided for advancing the pallet support with respect to the carriage at the pallet station after deposition of an article on a pallet carried on the pallet support. As shown, pallets 13 are fed from a transport conveyer 11 by a ram 14 on to the support 16, slidably mounted on a conveyer 10. The support is moved from a rest position 17 to a pallet station 23 and back to a terminal station 24 at which position the support carrying the pallet is advanced stepwise by a track 25 secured to a frame 20 and an indexing valve 27 mounted on the support 16. The support is moved by a piston and cylinder arrangement 18. A trip mechanism (not shown) mounted on the conveyer 10 between the positions 17 and 24 is engageable with the support to rotate it through 90 degrees. In operation, a second layer of articles is deposited upon the first layer at 90 degrees thereto and the so loaded pallet is returned to the rest position 17 where it is pushed on to a transport conveyer 12 as an empty pallet is delivered on to the support 16 by the ram 14. The apparatus is controlled by a hydro-pneumatic circuit described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown).
