Abstract

1284607 Transferring articles between presses KOMATSU SEISAKUSHO KK 5 Aug 1969 [21 Sept 1968] 39130/69 Heading B3Q Formed articles 102 are transferred between presses by apparatus comprising rails 101 for supporting both sides of the articles, and loading and unloading carriers 105, 104, each operable cyclically for performing lifting, advancing, lowering and retracting operations and each having a fork for taking an article from, or depositing in, a press. The carrier 105, by means of its fork 110, lifts an article from a press, withdraws it and deposits it on the rails 101. From this point, the article is pushed along the rails in steps by projections 111 on the other carrier 104 until it is lifted above the rails by the fork 109 on carrier 104 and deposited in the next press. The carriers 104, 105 are slidablymounted in a lifting frame 117, the length of the carrier 104 being equal to the distance between presses. The apparatus is driven, through a cam-shaft and gear-box, by a variable-speed motor synchronized with the presses. A cam 119 operates the lifting frame 117 through a lever 118 and a rod 134 which is coupled to four sector gears 123, 141 in mesh with racks 122 on legs 120 of the lifting frame, the legs 120 being supported by pneumatic cylinders 121. Further cams 107, 108, through levers 115, 116 and links 131, 143, effect feed movements of the carriers 104, 105, followers on the levers 115, 116 being kept against the cams by air cylinders (126, 127), Fig. 3 (not shown). A sequence of operations starts with the carriers lowered and retracted, Fig. 2. The unloading carrier 105 is then advanced, followed by a raising movement of both carriers, after which carrier 105 is withdrawn and, at the same time, carrier 104 is advanced to the upstream press. Both carriers are then lowered and carrier 104 is withdrawn. The transition points of the rectangular movement may be made smooth by appropriate design of the cams.
