Abstract

1345125 Electric watches TIMEX CORP 21 March 1972 [22 March 1971] 13271/72 Heading G3T A regulator 24 has arms 32, 33 with flanges 37, 38 and apertures 39, 41 to receive a hairspring 18 and produces a predetermined positive isochronism characteristic (frequency increasing with amplitude). This is stated to facilitate synchronization with a quartz-crystal controlled oscillator. The arm 32 has a portion 42 in permanent contact with the spring 18 to determine effective spring length, and is also arranged to position the spring centrally in the aperture 41 in the neutral position of a balance Fig.16 (not shown). As oscillation amplitude increases, the spring dwells for an increasing proportion of the time in contact with the sides of aperture 41. The balance (16) carries a maintaining coil (17) and a contact pin (35) which touches a fixed spring (30) to control the coil current.
