Abstract
1,128,703. Electromagnetic interrupters. ELECTROMETRE S.A. 4 Jan., 1967 [13 Jan., 1966], No. 487/67. Heading H1N. A vibratory relay has a blade 1 secured in a holder 3 and engaged beyond its movable contact 6 by a spring 11. The holder 3 also supports the fixed contact 8 and the spring 11 which has a curved end 13 just in engagement with a ferromagnetic mass 5 on the end of the blade 1. The natural frequency of oscillation is the resultant of two half-periods, in one of which the spring 11 is active and in the other in which the blade 1 moves on its own to close the contacts and deflect further about the contacts. The spring constants and mass may beselectedto ensure that the contacts remain closed for ¥ of the time. The frequency of the current energizing the off-set electromagnet 12 is preferably a harmonic of the frequency of the blade 1. The mass 5 may be a permanent magnet. The spring 11 may be relatively rigid and engage the blade at a distance from its end (Fig. 2, not shown).
