Abstract

1345081 Alkoxy-acetoacetic esters LONZA Ltd 25 Aug 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 30970/72 Heading C2C #-Alkoxy-acetoacetic acid esters are prepared by reacting a #-haloacetoacetic ester with an alkali metal alcoholate dissolved in an alcohol. A further aprotic solvent, e.g. dimethyl sulphoxide, dimethyl formamide, formamide, N- methyl formamide and N-methyl propionamide may be present. Methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, n-butanol and sec-butanol may be the alcohols. Examples describe the preparation of #-ethoxy-acetoacetic acid ethyl ester, #-methoxy-acetoacetic acid methyl ester, γ-isopropoxy - acetoacetic acid isopropyl ester and #-octyloxyacetoacetic acid octyl ester.
