1344327 Boxes S J SCHWARZ 12 July 1971 [16 July 1970 6 Oct 1970 7 Oct 1970] 32586/71 Heading B8P A box for fruit or vegetables is made from two rectangular blanks 1, (2) each of which is divided into three sections, the middle sections being superimposed to form the base of the box and the end sections forming upstanding front, rear and side walls 3, 4, 5, 6. The front and rear walls 3, 4 are reinforced by triangular posts (7) 8 joined at the top by slats 9 and the side walls 5, 6 comprise a double layer of material. The exposed edges of the middle part of the lower sheet (2) are folded over to form rims 10 which raise the box bottom from the ground and hollows 11 which co-operate with the slats 9 during stacking. To facilitate ventilation, the front and rear walls 3, 4 are higher than the side walls 5, 6. In modifications, the posts( 7) 8 may be replaced by triangular posts (13,14) on each of the front, rear and side walls, which form rectangular posts in the corners of the box; extension flaps (12) of the front and rear walls may extend over the slats 9; the side walls 5, 6 may be of a single layer thickness and reinforced by bars (15) at the top, which may be covered by extensions of the side walls 5, 6.
