Abstract
1343621 Recovering extractive solvents from non-aromatic raffinates UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 15 June 1971 27878/71 Heading C5E In a process for recovering a water-soluble extractive solvent from the raffinate 1 from the liquid-liquid extraction of aromatics from hydrocarbon mixtures by washing with water 4 in an extraction tower 2 provided with stationary perforated decks 3, the raffinate is passed through the perforations at a hole velocity greater than 0À6 m./sec. A portion 7 of the washed raffinate can be recycled to the tower 2 through lines 11 and/or 14. A list of conventional extractive solvents which can be recovered is given; in an example the raffinate from the extraction of benzene, toluene, xylene and C 9+ aromatics from a hydrocarbon feed using sulpholane is treated.
