Abstract
1343160 Suction lifting device DEMAG AG 19 April 1971 [7 April 1970] 25866/71 Heading B8H In a suction operated lifting device, a piston and cylinder combination is in communication with a recess in a suction disc via a passage through a joint member fixed to the cylinder, the suction disc being connected to the joint member for articulation therewith, a gasket providing a seal between the recess and the outer surface of the joint member. In an embodiment as shown, a lifting means e.g. a crane hook is attached to an eyelet 5, Fig. 1, at one end of the piston-rod 3, thus moving the piston in the cylinder 2 to produce the required suction, which is then transmitted to the recess 10 in the suction disc 8 via passage 9, and the object to be lifted is thus gripped. Rotational movement between the cylinder 6 and the disc 8 is limited by stop means 21, 21a or 21b, Fig. 2. The joint member 7, which may include a ball portion 12, co-acting with a complementary socket on the suction disc, can be extended by a member 17 which grips the inner periphery of the gasket 16, the outer periphery of which is clamped to the disc 8 by a sealing ring 20.
