Abstract

1342999 Copying process and apparatus DIETZGEN CORP 17 Feb 1972 [19 Feb 1971] 7464/72 Heading G2A In a copying process, a master sheet 29 superimposed on a photo-sensitive sheet 28 is fed around the periphery of a rotatable drum 1 and is exposed through a wall of the drum in one peripheral portion, subsequently developed in another peripheral portion and the two sheets finally separated. A hollow transparent drum 1 has O. V lamps 6 and an endless belt 5 wound around rollers 2, 3, 4 for driving the sheets around the drum and past the exposure station. Before passing over driven roller 4, a guide 23, lying in an indentation in the roller deflects the sheets to developing section 10 in which they are exposed to heated ammonia vapour stored in a chamber 11 having an opening closed by a perforated blanket 14 of P.T.F.E. The sheets are deflected along the outside of the perforated sheet stretching between seals 19 and 20 and the ammonia developer diffuses through the perforations to the diazo-type photo-sensitive sheet. The vapour enters chamber 11 through valve 13 and is electrically heated by elements 18 and 21 such that no condensation occurs on the drum. If the photo-sensitive sheet is not porous it is separated from the master, reversed and passed through the machine again without the lamps on, when it will come into contact with the ammonia vapour.
