Abstract

702,792. Photographic developing apparatus. OZALID CO., Ltd., and BRIDGEWATER. W. R. Aug. 26, 1952 [Sept. 11, 1951], No. 21408/51. Class 98(2) Apparatus for developing photographic sensitized material (e.g. diazotype material) by exposure to moist alkaline vapours, in which an endless band of gas-permeable material which absorbs the vapour is traversed across an opening formed in the top of the development chamber 10 and development is effected by transporting the sensitized material in company with the band by means of a second endless band 24 surmounting the gaspermeable band and forming a nip between the bands through which the exposed material is passed, is characterized in that the gas-permeable band 12 is located within the development chamber 10 and has an upper lap passing under the opening 11 in the top of the chamber. Band 12 is guided by a dished guide 13 and a roller 16 mounted within chamber 10, and is centred by plates 18 carried by rods 17. Developing solution is fed from outside into a slotted tube 19 and vaporized by a heater 21. The transport band 24 is preferably of material not pervious to gas, e.g. rubber, and is mounted on rollers 25, 26, of which one is driven. Band 12 becomes impregnated with gas, and exposed material is fed between the bands with the sensitized surface facing band 12. Specifications 401,406, 495,392 and 598,921 are referred to.
