Abstract

1342376 Encapsulating electric coils ELECTRONIC ASSOCIATES Inc 4 Nov 1971 [9 Nov 1970] 51374/71 Heading B5A [Also in Division H1] A dual bobbin coil assembly 21 is placed in a transfer mould and thermally injected with mineral filled heat conductive epoxy and catalyst to impregnate the windings and form the final encapsulated product 10 (Fig. 1). The plastic material is injected (Fig. 24) through inlets 60 at the corners of the mould opposite the terminal board and parallel to the plane of the bobbin flanges. The 2 part mould (Fig. 23) comprises bobbin supports 62 in lower half 64 having injection gates 60 and a shaped upper half 66 with a dependent wall 68 fitting flush to a sloping surface of the lower half except for constructed openings pinching the leads 30 attached to the terminal eyelets, which are encapsulated by head 70.
