1341973 Yarn texturising J P STEVENS & CO Inc 21 Sept 1971 [30 Sept 1970] 43979/71 Headings DID and D1F Multifilament yarn is texturised by overfeeding a yarn into a swirling fluid zone to form at least one crank-shaped spinning loop in the yarn, permitting the yarn to untwist during withdrawal from the zone, and abruptly changing the direction of yarn movement during the untwisting. Air is fed tangentially, Fig. 1, into chamber 1 through conduit 4 to form spinning loop 10 in yarn 3 overfed through conduit 2 inclined to the chambers axis. The yarn is withdrawn through conduit 5 which has bores 6 to by-pass air and thus eliminate air swirl in the conduit. The driection of yarn movement is abruptly changed after the yarn has passed through elbow 7 to form loops which give a textured effect to yarn 8. Alternatively, Fig.5 a suitable texturising device is formed by inserting a component into a bored-out texturising chamber 18 of a conventional concurrent texturising device. The component forms a texturising chamber 13 plugged by plug 32, receiving air via tangential duct 15, outer chamber 35 and conduit 19, and receiving yarn via conduit 34 inserted in an inclined component bore. The component has by-pass bores 17 surrounding a yarn outlet conduit. The size of chamber 36, and thus the flow through bores 17, is adjusted by rotation of threaded cap 29.
