Studs.-A stud or detachable double button comprises two parts a, b, Fig. 2, the part a having a solid head a<1> and a central pillar a<2> provided at its end with two opposite projections a<3>, and the other part b being provided with a stem b' having a central bore b<2> of the same diameter as the pillar a<2> and two grooves b<3> to admit the projections a<3>. An enlargement b<4> of the stem and a plate b<5> form the base of the stud, the portion b<4> being recessed and provided with a ledge b<6> surrounding the bore and having notches b<7> on a diameter at right-angles to the line forming the grooves. A coiled spring b<8> is placed between the plate b<5> and the ledge. The parts are connected together by pressing the pillar a<2> into the stem b<1> to compress the spring b<8>, and then turning the part a. through 90 degrees so that the projections a<3> enter the notches b<7>. The parts are released by pressing the part a inwardly and giving it a quarter-turn. An annular groove a<4> for the end of the stem b<1> is formed round the base of the pillar a<2>. In a modification, Fig. 3, the pillar a<2> has a reduced portion ending in a flattened arrow-head top a<5>, the part b having a base b<10> provided with a slot b<9> and notches b<11> at right-angles to the slot. The parts are similarly connected together by passing the end a<5> through the slot and giving the part a a quarterturn.
