Abstract

1341888 Vacuum furnace ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 27 May 1971 [10 July 1970] 17468/71 Heading F4B The thermal insulation of the furnace chamber of a furnace arranged inside a pressure cylinder having closures held in place by a press yoke while the furnace is supported by a stand comprises at least two cylindrical members closed at the top having intermediate insulation. The furnace chamber 22 is enclosed by a cylinder 25 closed at the top by a lid 27, Fig. 2, and spaced from an outer member having double cylindrical walls 30, 31 and a lid 35 by insulation 38. A ring 33 is welded to the intermediate wall 30, and the outer wall 31 is free to move axially with respect to the ring 33, Fig. 3. A pressure release hole 40 through the ring 33 connects the space 38 between the walls 25, 30 with the space within the pressure casing 10, and the ring 33 is bolted to an annular member 21 to hold the flange 26 of the wall 25 in place. Conductors 52 for heating elements 51 pass through a seat 19 for the bottom closure 20 of the pressure chamber, and insulation 62 within sleeves 60, 61 isolate the furnace chamber from the closure seat 19. The bottom closure 20 carries an insulating plinth 50 for supporting the charge, and is raised and lowered for charging and discharging by a lifting device on the stand carrying the furnace. The same device may be used to remove the closure seat together with the furnace insulation so that it may readily be replaced. The insulation member may be supported from the upper closure of the pressure chamber.
