Abstract

1341836 Welding by pressure JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 11 June 1971 [27 June 1970] 31282/70 Heading B3R A method of resistance welding together metallic laminations 11 each having at least three indentations 12 in one surface forming three complementary projections 13 in the opposite surface comprises placing a set of laminations in a stack with the projections on one lamination, of each two adjacent laminations, engaging the indentations of the other, passing current through the stack to weld the set of laminations together, placing a second set of said laminations on the welded laminations and passing current through the two sets to weld the second set to the first set. Each lamination preferably was four indentations 12 and the first set of such laminations is welded between electrodes 15. The welded stack is clamped in an electrode engaging the sides of the stack and a second set of laminations is placed on the first and pressed by a second electrode to weld the laminations of the second set together and to the first set. The second set may, in a modification, be welded before being placed on the first stack.
