Abstract
1340805 Making metal powder HOGANAS AB 2 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 20448/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division C7] A low alloy steel powder is formed by contacting a stream of molten steel with a jet of fluid, e.g. water or water vapour and then treating with an aqueous solution of an acid, e.g. H 2 SO 4 , HCl, HNO 3 , oxalic, acetic or formic, which may contain an inhibitor. After drying the powder is annealed, e.g. at 1050 C. in 75% H 2 -25% N 2 . The powder may be treated mechanically before or after the acid treatment. The powder may be separated magnetically or by air classification from oxide residues.
