Abstract

1340303 Endless conveyers MANNESMANN AG 2 March 1972 [8 March 1971] 9744/72 Heading B8A Articles of baggage 5a, 5b &c. are delivered at stations 3, 4 on to sets of platforms 8a, 8b carried by an endless chain 2. The platforms 8a are mounted to have a fixed height to receive the baggage from station 3, whilst the platforms 8b are mounted on a lazy-tongs mechanism 11 to be raisable by a height "h" to receive the baggage from the station 4. The height h being sufficient to allow a loaded platform 8a to pass beneath the station 4. The platform 8a, 8b are tilted downwardly in the direction of conveyance and inwardly of the curved path which they follow and have lips 21 to retain the baggage thereon. The platforms 8a, 8b are mounted to be tiltable about a pin 10 to discharge the baggage at a selected one of discharge stations (6a)-(6z), Fig. 1 (not shown). The number of platforms in a set corresponds to the number of delivery stations. Each delivery station having endless delivery conveyer belt 16 arranged to be driven periodically at the speed of the platform when a respective platform approaches the station.
