1338066 Injection-moulding K HEHL 1 Dec 1970 [25 April 1970] 5511/73 Divided out of 1338065 Heading B5A An injection moulding unit comprises a plasticizing cylinder with a permanently open nozzle and movable along the injection axis, a plasticizing screw conveyer in the cylinder movable relatively thereto along the injection axis due to the back pressure of the material and a supporting bridge for the plasticizing cylinder and a fluid piston and cylinder, the cylinder comprising sleeve-shaped parts of the bridge for displacement of the plasticizing cylinder. As shown in Fig. 2, the apparatus comprises a plasticizing cylinder 3<SP>1</SP> with nozzle 11<SP>11</SP>, heaters 4, 12<SP>1</SP> and screw conveyer 6, mounted on a supporting bridge 511 having sleeves 219 acting as hydraulic cylinders, the pistons 218 of which are fixed to machine struts 1, 2. Cylinder 216 having piston 215 may retract screw 6 to relieve ramming pressure of the material fed forwardly thereby. Motor 10<SP>1</SP> rotates screw 6. Hydraulic cylinder 217 integral with bridge 511 and its piston 214 which is integral with piston-rod 232 of piston 215 enables forward movement of screw 6 for injection. After plasticization, cam 229 operates switch 231 to stop motor 10<SP>1</SP>, and cylinder 216 charged to retract screw 6, relieving back pressure. Then, cylinders 219 are charged to withdraw the unit from the mould without material escaping from the nozzle 11<SP>11</SP>. The unit is again advanced thereby before injection and the injection stroke of screw 6 is effected by cylinder 217 and terminated by cam 230 abutting switch 231.
