Abstract

1337958 Shelving C G REED 16 June 1971 [22 June 19701 30140/70 Heading A4B A shelf support bracket or beam 9 is supported at one or both ends by an upright 1 having at least one channel shaped portion 3 or 4, the beam 9 having a flanged end 10 defining a channel which embraces the channel shaped portion 3, the flanged end being releasably engaged with a wedge shaped element 5 adjustably positioned along the length of and within the channel shaped portion 3. A tongue 11 on the end 10 engages in a slot 12 in the upwardly tapering wedge element 5. The element 5 and end 10 are clamped on to the upright 1 by a wedging action due to inter-engagement either of correspondingly inclined surfaces 14, 13 of the end 10 and element 5 respectively or of inclined surfaces at the end of the tongue 11 and at the bottom of the slot 12. Depressions 7 (or protrusions) in the element 5 are urged into engagement with protrusions 8 (or depressions) on the upright 1 by a leaf spring, rubber strip or foam plastics strip 6 carried by the element 5. A further beam 9 may be secured to the other channel shaped portion 4.
