Abstract

1,123,761. Shelving. BERTRAM THOMAS (ENGS) Ltd. 9 June, 1967 [12 March, 1966], No. 10981/66. Heading A4B. A rack for adjustably supporting shelves or trays (20) comprises spaced, channel section uprights 8, 12 each having a vertical row of slots 14, bearers 16 interconnecting front and rear uprights 8, 12, and separate securing elements 32 which each engage in a selected slot 14 and support a bearer end. Each securing element 32 comprises a shank having a plate 30 at one end and a head 34, 36 at the opposite end defining upper and lower recesses 38, 40. The bearer ends have substantially L-shaped slots 26, 28 which each engage over the shank of a securing member 32 fitted into a slot 14 so that the bearer end is held between the head 34, 36 and the inner face 8<SP>1</SP> (or 12<SP>1</SP>) of the upright 8 (or 12). The slots 26, 28 may be shaped for either inclined or horizontal support of the bearer 16. A niche (28c, Fig. 2) at the rear, upper end of the rear slot 28 receives the upper edge of the shank of the securing member 32. Flanges 18 on the brackets 16 have upturned front ends (22) to prevent trays (20) or shelves sliding off inclined bearers 16.
