Abstract

1337278 Refractives FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 14 July 1971 [7 Sept 1970] 42695/70 Heading C1J [Also in Division C3] A refractory heat insulating material comprises, in weight per cent, inorganic refractory fibres 10-60; refractory particles 20-80; and a binder of boric acid and an alkali metal borate 1-20, the material being free of organics. Specified fibres are asbestos, rock wool, slag wool, mineral wool, alumino silicate acid CaSiO 3 , whilst fillers are SiO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 , ZrSiO 4 , chromite, chamotte, grog, diatomite and kiesulguhr. The ingredients are made into a slurry which is filled into a mould, the water expressed and the residual moisture driven off by stoving.
