Abstract

1336795 Stoppers F T PRODUCTS Ltd 16 Feb 1972 [16 Feb 1971] 4743/71 Heading F2P [Also in Division B8] A vent plug is formed by a tubular shank 11, having internal ribs 14, and a pin 12 which may be joined to the shank by a frangible web 13 and has venting grooves 18, 19 (which may, alternatively, be in the inner surface of the shank 11). When the shank 11 is inserted in an aperture, e.g. in a vehicle axle casing, the pin 12 may be pushed inwards breaking the web 13 and, as the pin bears on the ribs 14, expanding the shank radially outwards. The plug may be injection moulded of acetal resin. Grooves 18a, 19a and 20, 21 in the head 17 of the pin and the flange 15 of the shank respectively continue the venting grooves.
