Abstract

1336075 Weighing apparatus MANNESMANNGEISEL GmbH & CO 19 April 1971 [20 Feb 1970 22167/71 Heading G1W A luggage receiving counter, provided with apparatus for weighing items of luggage in an upright position and conveying them in a direction at right angles to the counter front to a pallet 11, includes at least two weighing conveyer belts 4, 6, a device 7, 8 for tipping the items of luggage on to their sides, and a pallet-changing conveyer 10, arranged one behind another so that items of luggage pass successively from the first weighing conveyer 4 to the pallet 11. The first weighing conveyer 4 is long enough to accept one large item of luggage and the second conveyer 6 is long enough to accept two such items. The tipping device comprises belts 7, 8 side by side, both of which may be pivoted about a common longitudinal axis, Fig. 1, (not shown). Downstream of the tipping device is an aligning conveyer 9 which is movable bodily transversely of its longitudinal axis to feed items of luggage on to a conveyer 10 which is movable bodily in a direction parallel to its longitudinal axis. When an item is on conveyer 10 above the pallet 11, the conveyer is moved in the opposite direction and at the same speed as its upper run is moving, to withdraw the conveyer from under the momentarily stationary item 5. The counters are arranged in pairs with their conveyer systems adjacent each other, the pair sharing a common aligning and final conveyer 9, 10.
