Abstract

1335989 Photo-electrophoretic imaging XEROX CORP 9 Nov 1970 [14 Nov 1969] 53134/70 Heading G2H In a photo-electrophoretic imaging process employing a transparent injecting electrode drum 1 having an imaging segment 5, accumulated liquid 104 is removed from between drum 1 and a blocking electrode roller 16 through a vacuum chamber 108 extending across the width of drum 1 and at the downstream end of segment 5. Vacuum chamber 108 has a narrow inlet 110, the upstream wall 106 being tapered and the downstream wall 114 having an L-shaped resilient member adapted to flick off liquid not removed by the suction. Vacuum chamber 108 has a metering strip 120 to provide a uniform reduced pressure. The complete imaging apparatus, Fig. 1, includes alternative blocking electrode rollers 16 and 29, image transfer station D and three endless cleaning belts aided by light sources 9-11.
