Abstract

1335753 Furnace OFU OFENBAU-UNION GmbH 16 Aug 1971 [17 Aug 1970] 38380/71 Heading F4B An industrial furnace having an interior space 1 has parallel rows of supports 2 carrying a plurality of slide rails 4 for transporting objects 6 horizontally through the furnace, the longitudinal axis of the objects 6 being transverse to the direction of transportation V. A plurality of burners 8 are arranged in the roof 7 of the furnace, and also a plurality of burners 10 are provided in the lower region of the furnace, the jets of these burners being directed upwardly from outlets 11 spaced above the level of the furnace bottom 9. The lower burners 10 have a minimum combustion gas exit speed of 80- 100 m./sec. to prevent clogging of the burners by falling scale from the objects 6, by enabling the burners to blow themselves free automatically.
