Abstract
1335512 Slot seal and ware supporting apparatus for furnaces AEG-ELOTHERM GmbH 17 May 1972 [27 May 1971] 23231/72 Heading F4B A continuous, directly fired furnace 1 with an overhead trolley conveyer comprises channel girders 14 defining an overhead track on which runs trolleys (16, Fig. 2) on rollers (15), a pair of rods 17 extending downwardly from each trolley through a roof slot 10 and carrying ware trays or baskets 18, and branch flues 11 leading from the slot to horizontal roof flues 12 the negative pressure created therein causing ambient air to be drawn through the slot. This cools the conveyer mechanism and the effluent gases. Burners 7 fire hearth combustion chambers 6 with openings 8 near opposite side walls, alternate burners being in opposite side walls. Lapped sheets 20 cover the slot, the incoming air entering through gaps created therein for the rods 17.
