Abstract
1335104 Watches SUWA SEIKOSHA K K 11 Aug 1971 [17 Aug 1970] 37725/71 Heading G3T A waterproof seal between a watch glass 6 and case body 7 is provided by an intermediate ring 1 of synthetic resin or soft metal and having an L-shaped cross-section. Prior to assembly with the glass, the ring 1 has an internal angle # 1 which is less than 90 degrees, but since the minimum internal diameter a of the ring is less than the diameter of the glass, the angle is increased to 90 degrees on assembly. The outer surface 4 of the ring may then be machined to be parallel with the ring axis. The ring is first assembled with the glass (see Fig. 2 not shown) and this assembly is then inserted in the body 7, the insertion being aided by guide surfaces 5, 10. The minimum internal diameter c of the case body is smaller than the exterior of the ring so that the latter is compressed radially to produce a seal.
