Abstract

1334894 Take-up for a knitting machine LOW & BONAR (TEXTILES & PACKAGING) Ltd 28 Feb 1972 [28 July 1971] 35487/71 Headings D1C and D1K Warp knitted net is fed between guides which are given a transverse movement equal to the distance between adjacent pillars of chain stitches as determined from the final width of the fabric on the take-up roll during a predetermined number of revolutions of the roll and is then reversed to traverse the same distance in the opposite direction, the movement per revolution being constant and equal to the distance between chains divided by the number of revolutions. In the arrangement as described in Co-pending application 28359/71 the frame formed by rods 6, 8 and 9 is carried on arms 13 pivoted on blocks 17 so that it can be reciprocated transversely. The arms 13 are operated by a cam 14 rotated through flexible drive 15 from the roller 7a of take up roll 11 to give the linear traverse. Roll 11 is surface driven from the knitting machine. The fabric comprises pillars of stitches b connected by warps b' which move between the pillars.
