Abstract

1334847 Rotary positive displacement compressors HYDROVANE COMPRESSOR CO Ltd 22 Dec 1970 [24 Dec 1969] 62795/69 Heading F1F [Also in Division B1] A compressor of the sliding vane type has means for delivering oil into the working chamber or the air inlet therto from a sump 30 surrounding the lower part of the stator and a delivery manifold 24 leading to central inlet part 22 of a primary oil separation chamber 25. The chamber 25 has circumferential flanges 21 and the stator has similar shallowed flanges 20 so that the air/ oil mixture has to follow a labyrinthine path to outlet parts 32, 33 at the ends of the chamber 25 leading to a secondary separator 37 having felt discs or pads 38 alternating with baffles 39 and a central outlet 50. Separated oil from the primary chamber drains down the outside of the stator to the sump 30 and from the secondary chamber it collects in wells 40 from which a rising passage leads to a filter and fixed orifice and a further passage leads to a cavity below the separator 37 from which it drains back to the compressor intake.
