1334578 Supporting and insulating pipes S R V GEBELIUS 15 Nov 1971 [30 Dec 1970 20 Oct 1971] 53005/71 Heading F2P In a pipe supporting and insulating device, a pair of elongate, thermally insulating elements 10, 10<SP>1</SP> have joining faces which each contain one or more longitudinally extending grooves 11, 12, hook-shaped in transverse cross-section, to embrace and support the pipes. The elements 10, 10<SP>1</SP> are of rigid, porous material which is preferably a polyurethane foam with smooth, non-perforate outer surfaces. The lips 13, 14<SP>1</SP> of the hook-shaped grooves, which retain the pipes in one element 10 whilst the other element 10<SP>1</SP> of similar cross-sectional shape is attached thereto, are received on ledges 13<SP>11</SP>, 14<SP>11</SP> to ensure correct alignment. As shown in Fig. 5, in one embodiment, further support and insulating elements 20, 20<SP>1</SP>, 20<SP>11</SP> are provided to accommodate pipe T-pieces 21, 21<SP>1</SP> having branches 22, 22<SP>1</SP> which are located in co-operating grooves 23, 24, 25 and 26. In another arrangement, the grooves lie in planes which are parallel with opposite faces of the assembled device but laterally spaced apart (Fig. 3, not shown). In a further embodiment, brackets 27, Fig. 7, are received in slots in the elements 10, 10<SP>1</SP> to support pipes 15, 15<SP>1</SP> on a ceiling, for example, to which the brackets may be screwed. The brackets receive the pipes 15, 15<SP>1</SP> before the elements 10, 10<SP>1</SP> embrace the pipes, engage the brackets and are connected together by screws (31, 311) (Figs. 8, 9, not shown).
