Abstract

1334299 Substituted naphthamides; substituted benzamides FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 20 Oct 1971 [20 Oct 1970] 48853/71 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - [N - 2 - {(2,4 - ditertiary amyl) phenoxy - acetylamino}phenyl] - naphthamide is prepared by adding dropwise half of a solution of 2,4-di-t-amylphenoxyacetic acid chloride in acetone to 1-hydroxy-2-[N-(2<SP>1</SP>-aminophenyl)]- naphthamide in acetone with ice cooling, adding triethylamine and then adding the rest of the acid chloride solution. 1-Hydroxy-4-chloro-2- [N - (2 - stearoylamino) phenyl] - naphthamide is prepared similarly. 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - [N - {2<SP>1</SP>- aminophenyl}] - naphthamide is prepared by shaking 1 - hydroxy - 2 - [N - {2<SP>1</SP> - nitrophenyl}]-naphthamide, pyridine and 10%- palladium carbon catalyst for 6 hours at 40‹ C. under hydrogen at 45 atmospheres. 1-Hydroxy- 2 - [N - {2<SP>1</SP> - nitrophenyl}] - naphthamide is prepared by heating to about 170‹ C. for 3 hours on an oil bath 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid phenyl ester and o-nitroaniline and distilling off phenol under reduced pressure. 1-Hydroxy-2- [N - (3<SP>1</SP> - N - n - hexadecyl - carbamoyl) - phenyl] naphthamide is prepared by heating to 170- 180‹ C. for 3 hours on an oil bath under reduced pressure N - hexadecyl - 3 - aminobenzamide and 1 - hydroxy - 2 - naphthoic acid phenyl ester. 1 - Hydroxy - 2 - [N - (4<SP>1</SP> - n - hexadecylcarbamoyl) phenyl] - naphthamide, 1 - hydroxy-2- [N - (2<SP>1</SP> - methoxy - 5<SP>1</SP> - n - hexadecylcarbamoyl)- phenyl] naphthamide and 1-hydroxy - 2 - [N- (3<SP>1</SP> - methyl - 4<SP>1</SP> - stearoylamino) phenyl]- naphthamide are prepared similarly. N-hexadecyl-3-aminobenzamide is prepared by catalytically hydrogenating at 50‹ C. N-hexadecyl-3- nitro-benzamide in ethanol. N-hexadecyl-3- nitro-benzamide is prepared by reacting cetylamine with m-nitrobenzoyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine in acetone.
