Abstract

1495335 Polybromo compounds EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 Feb 1975 [19 Feb 1974] 7007/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division G2] 2 - Tribromomethyl - sulphonylbenzothiazole is prepared by reacting bromine (in NaOH solution) with a solution of 2-carboxymethylmercaptobenzothiazole and sodium bicarbonate. 2,4 - Bis(tribromomethyl) - 6 - methyltriazine is prepared by heating a mixture of 2,4,6-trimethyltriazine and sodium acetate in acetic acid at 70 degrees while adding bromine. These compounds are used as background stabilizing agents in photothermographic materials.
