Abstract

1280132 L - 2 - [(α - phenyl - ethyl) - amino]- butan-1-ol BRACCO INDUSTRIA CHIMICA SpA 12 March 1971 6729/71 Heading C2C L - 2 - [(α - Phenyl - ethyl) - amino] - butan- 1-ol is obtained by a process which includes reacting 1-hydroxy-2.butanone with an optically active α-phenylethylamine under reducing conditions and resolving the resulting mixture of the two geometrically isomeric forms of 2- [(α - phenylethyl) - amino] - butan - 1 - ol, preferably by fractional cyrstallization of the acid addition salts of the isomers. Examples are given which illustrate the process.
