Abstract
1333950 Agglomerating ores ACIERIES REUNIES DE BURBACH-EICH-DUDELANGE SA 27 Nov 1970 [27 Nov 1969] 56530/70 Heading C1A A method of agglomerating iron ores on a moving grate is characterized in that the ore is agglomerated in two layers on the moving grate, the CaO/SiO 2 indices of which are respectively at least 0À15 point above and below the mean final basisity of the desired product. The iron ore to be agglomerated may be constituted by an ore of a single type rich or poor in iron, or a mixture of ores rich and/or poor in iron. Either or both of the layers may contain a portion of returned fines and other ingredients such as lime, limestone or dolomite fluxes. A preferred mean final basisity is 1À35 Œ 0À4 which may be obtained by agglomerating equal quantities of ores having initial basisities of 0À9 and 1À8. The thickness of either layer may be between 20 and 80% of the total height of the agglomeration batch.
