Abstract
1333881 Fuel delivery to gas turbine combustion chamber GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 19 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 20366/71 Heading F1L [Also in Division F4] Fuel delivery apparatus for a continuous burning combustion chamber, e.g. of a gas turbine engine, comprises a housing 24 with an outlet 30 and fluid directing vanes 32 disposed in an annular array radially outwardly of the outlet to direct air inwardly and generate vortical flow in the housing and a vortical efflux 34 from the outlet and liquid fuel injection means 38 for spraying fuel towards said vanes, whereby fuel droplets are discharged with said vortical efflux. The fuel may be injected as spray 42 through openings 44 and as a pilot spray one of atomized fuel 48 directly into a combustion chamber 14. The fluid directing vanes 32 overlap to prevent escape of fuel directed towards them.
