Abstract

1333788 Chlorinated rubber/iron oxide paints AGENCY OF INDUSTRIAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY 3 Nov 1970 [13 Nov 1969] 52278/70 Heading C3Q [Also in Division C1] A paint composition comprises a micaceous iron oxide, body pigment, chlorinated rubber type varnish and additive. The micaceous iron oxide particles are about 10 microns in diameter and 0À7 microns in thickness and are prepared by mixing a saturated solution of ferric salt and supersaturated or hydrated alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal carbonate obtained by adding alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal carbonate to water in an amount greater than that which the water can dissolve to form a ferric hydrated paste of which the alkali concentration is within the range from 0À5 N to 18 N and subjecting said paste to hydro-thermal treatment at above 130‹ C.
