1,130,406. Purifying carbon black. RUSSWERK ORANIENBURG VEB. 21 Sept., 1966, No. 42092/66. Heading C1A. Gas carbon is purified by compressing and treating it with an aqueous solution of permanganic acid or a neutral or alkaline (pH> 7) aqueous solution of its alkali metal salts, using 1À8 to 2À5 times by weight of carbon of the solution, whose concentration is 0À8 to 1À5% by weight. The product is purified gas carbon highly dispersed in water, and 'can be used as a pigment.
