Abstract

1277343 Coated carbon powder SIEMENS AG 24 April 1970 [25 April 1969] 19899/70 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] Carbon powder coated with a mixture of cobalt oxide and aluminium oxide is prepared by first mixing carbon powder, water and an aqueous solution of CO(NO 3 ) 2 .6H 2 O and Al(NO 3 ) 3 .9H 2 O, and then drying the mixture in air at 110‹ C. and then heating at 800‹ C. in a carbon dioxide atmosphere. Instead of carbon powder, carbonyl nickel powder can be used as the substrate for the oxides. The coating of carbon powder with P.T.F.E. and with Ag by first treating with a solution of AgNO 3 and reducing are also referred to.
